Galaxy Gear: A Smartwatch With Ultimate Style Statement
Huge rumors and big speculations surrounded the concept of smartwatch, but finally Samsung has become the first company to unveil a watch that truly is smart. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Gear Android powered Smartwatch at the IFA Berlin today alongwith the new Galaxy Note 3. Samsung’s CEO JK Shin flaunted his stylish Galaxy Gear Smartwatch for public at IFA.
At the IFA Berlin conference, confident Samsung’s CEO JK Shin, told the crowd that he was getting a call and unveiled the smartwatch. Shin further added that initially Galaxy Gear is paired with its new Galaxy Note 3, but further software upgrades and development is going on to make it compatible with Galaxy S4 and S3. Shin even added that he hopes see Galaxy Gear Smartwatch becoming a Fashion Statement.
The Galaxy Gear Smartwatch will responds to users voice commands, and if one needs to attend the call then they need to raise it to their ear. Both, the speaker and microphone of the Galaxy Gear are placed such that it can be used like a regular phone.
On the above feature set, Director of Research Samsung Pranav Mistry said
“this made the watch more natural to use unlike ‘speaking into the air like with Google Glass.”
The camera of the watch is placed outside of the strap, Pranav Mistry further added that photos can be taken via Smartwatch by simply pointing and shooting after a gentle swipe on the screen.

The Galaxy Gear, will begin retailing from 25th September onwards and will be priced at $299 for U.S markets, however the price of UK markets has not yet been revealed. The price of immediate rival Sony’s Smartwatch 2 is £149.99 in UK.
