Go Daddy Withdraws Support from SOPA
Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) the highly debatable and much talked about online piracy act bought forward by United States House of Representatives is gaining huge attention. SOPA has got support from major Industry players, but recently Go Daddy the web hosting and domain registration service provider which was earlier supporting SOPA has withdrawn its support on Friday (23rd December 2011).
Go Daddy No Longer Supports SOPA

After digesting what was being said online and looking at how we got involved in the process, we came to the conclusion that it wasn’t ready in its current state and that we’d step back and let others provide leadership,”

Many website owners and operators threatened to move their domains away from Go Daddy if they continued to support SOPA. Go Daddy was among the 150 organizations that were supporting the newly formed Stop Online Piracy Act.
CEO Adelman further added
“Fighting online piracy is of the utmost importance, which is why Go Daddy has been working to help craft revisions to this legislation — but we can clearly do better. It’s very important that all Internet stakeholders work together on this. Getting it right is worth the wait. Go Daddy will support it when and if the Internet community supports it.
Go Daddy has also removed the blog section which was used to discuss SOPA, as a surety that they do not support the bill.
SOPA if implemented will give immense powers to copyright holder and may in turn result into banning the website that has violated the rights.
