Indian Railways Provides Free WiFi Facility for Passengers Onboard
Indian Railway Minister Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal proposed Free WiFi facility for passengers onboard during this year’s Railway Budget in February 2013 , and in just one month’s time the Railway department has brought this vision into reality. Indian Railways flagged off its pilot project on Delhi-Kolkatta Howrah Rajdhani Express (one of the elite category of trains with Indian Railways).
Providing Wifi throughout the journey was a challenge for technical team as the trains passes through all kinds of territories. But after repeated trial run the facility was successfully launched in Delhi-Kolkatta Rajdhani and passengers now will be able to access Indian Railways internet network.
To start using the internet passengers need to provide their PNR Number and also mobile number to the network, after validation of the data furnished by the passenger, a login ID and password will be sent in form of a text message to the registered mobile number of passenger. The same login ID and password will remain valid to passengers for the entire journey if travelling by Rajdhani.
Railway Department is soon planning to provide this facility on other fleets of its elite trains like Shatabdi, Duronto, Rajdhani across India.
Congratulations and All the best to Indian Railways on achieving this milestone. So what say people what’s your take on this move by Indian Railways ? Share your comments with us.
