Micron CEO Steve Appleton Dies in Plane Crash
51 Year old industry veteran Steve Appleton, CEO of America based Semiconductor company Micron Technology passed away in a plane crash on Friday, 3rd February 2012. Steve was flying an experimental Lancair single-engine airplane, he was the only person on board when the plane caught fire at Boise Airport. Steve sent a message to Boise ATS while he was flying that he is facing some problems and need to turn around and land.

After taking off and reaching an altitude of about 200 feet, Appleton radioed that he had a problem and needed to turn around. The aircraft rolled left, then plummeted to the ground, where it crashed, causing a large fire and leaving a twisted, black wreckage.

Steve Appleton was also named the youngest CEO by Fortune 500 in 1994 at the age of 34. He joined Micron after graduating from Boise State University in 1983. Steve’s dedication and brilliance led him to the position of CEO of Micron Technology. He received the prestigious Robert Noyce Award – the industry’s highest honor – from the Semiconductor Industry Association in 2011.
Micron Technology was deeply grief stricken when the news of their CEO braked, no one the organization was believing that such incident could ever happen.

Micron Technology is best known for its semiconductors devices especiallyThis includes DRAM, SDRAM, flash memory, SSD and CMOS image sensing chips.
