Microsoft CES 2012: The Last Show
One of tech industry’s biggest trade show in America “International Consumer Electronics Show” is all set to take place form 9th January-12th January 2012 in Las Vegas. But this time Microsoft will be appearing for the last time in CEC. Microsoft is of the opinion that they would now prefer to host their own shows like Apple to display their products.
The reason cited regarding Microsoft’s withdrawal was that the CEC event timing and Microsoft’s product development did not match properly.
“Our product news milestones generally don’t align with the show’s January timing. Are we doing something because it’s the right thing to do, or because ‘it’s the way we’ve always done it’?”
— Frank Shaw ( VP Communication, Microsoft )
CEC almost attracted 1.5 million people and the news of Microsoft opting out from International Consumer Electronics Show will be a big blow to the organizers the Consumer Electronics Association. Microsoft officials confirmed that they will not be part of CEC after 2012 but will use CEC venue as a place to connect with more industry people.
Microsoft’s present CEO Steve Balmer along with Mr Bill Gates delivered many CEC keynotes speeches, but now its going to be history.
