Microsoft India Store Hacked: Username Password Exposed
A Chinese group of hackers hacked Microsoft’s online India Store www.microsoftstore.co.in and stole all the username and passwords associated with it. It is pretty ironical hackers were able to breach the security of website of one of the biggest IT companies of the world. The Chinese group is identified as Evil Shadow Team. Microsoft’s store was hacked on Sunday and is still not available for use.
The message left by hackers on Microsoft’s site was
“We are not famous, we know that there are other experts among us, people who are even better. Unsafe system will be baptized”
However the an immediate notification was sent by Microsoft officials to all the users to change their passwords when the site is live. The username and passwords were stored in plain text file, without any encryption. Microsoft’s Online Store is managed by media group Quasar Media.
“Microsoft is investigating a limited compromise of the company’s online store in India. The store customers have already been sent guidance on the issue and suggested immediate actions. We are diligently working to remedy the issue and keep our customers protected.”
