How To Remove / Mass Delete WordPress Tags without Plugins
You have a WordPress blog that has lots of tags created by various authors you had and now there are too much of them ( I had nearly 30,000 of them on one of my big blogs) so the easiest way to get rid of them is what any normal person will try to do is go to Dashboard & then to Post tags and then select the checkbox at top of the list which automatically selects all the post tags and then a simple “delete” would do the job , but with so many tags and only 20 tags shown per page it becomes lots of pages to deal with.
But you can still do it easily by just changing a small setting , It’s located at the top right as “Screen Options” , just go there and in the drop down enter a large value ( Here I have entered 999 for “Show on Screen” ) and now you have 999 tags per page and so even if you had 10K tags , you just need to do the Select All and delete action only 11 times to get rid of all 10K tags .
There are plugins which can do that and a Google search will bring a lot of them up but I wanted to mass remove tags without any plugin as it would only be a one time task and so I thought this small hidden setting might prove useful for others , who are into blogging & WordPress .
