Speed up your Internet by Using the fastest Browser – Opera 10
I just downloaded Opera 10 beta, on a friend’s advice and I was amazed by the speed and new UI looks, Opera 10 got me on steroids on Internet with the all new turbo mode . Even dial-up users can surf and cruise the Internet at broadband speeds with pages loading within 3-4 sec.
You can enable Turbo mode via Tools->Quick preferences->Enable Turbo
Another icing on the cake was the new Visual tabs feature .which allows you to navigate
the open tabs in a visually appealing and quickly manner , Just drag down the series of dots below the tab area to see the visual representation.
Rest of the features like Speed dial,Quick notes, Built in Email and chat client and a stylish RSS reader stay the same as in earlier versions of Opera .
Now, the secret behind the Opera turbo mode is nothing but a proxy – client scenario , whenever you have opera turbo on as soon as you type a website URL and press enter Opera contacts it’s Web servers which fetch the page for you on their own ( They have very high speeds over 5-10 Gbps of connection) and then they compress that page and deliver it to you in shortest possible time, the downside is images might look a bit low quality , but remember my friend speed comes at a price .
I created this Diagram to show how Opera turbo Works , hope it’s easy to understand . If opera had extensions of Firefox then I can surely bet It would had been the best browser on Earth .
Also, i would recommend you to configure Opera turbo by right clicking on it , and set it to Automatic mode to enjoy the best of speed and quality !!
Opera also passes the ACID3 test for browsers with Full Score 100/100 , while Firefox Stuck at 71/100 and Chrome 78/100 with 1 of the tests failing, this shows that Opera fully conforms to all the latest browser standards, you can have an ACID test of your Browser at ACID Test for Browsers , what came as a shock to me was that Internet Explorer * scored just 20/100 ( Shame .) and Safari was at par with opera with a full 100/100 .
I love the new tab experience but still argue that for savvy users like myself I rather stick with the Fox and the marvelous new tab king extension (http://www.newtabking.com)
your take?

I Love Firefox too, and I love it a lot, mostly for the plethora of extensions and addons it provides for developers and casual users alike, but at this time when I am browsing the internet through my GPRS connection which is dead slow nearly 4KBps , I think the Opera turbo mode is 1 sure thing that came to my rescue.
Well I used to be a die-hard Firefox user and won many converts to it (mostly from IE and Safari). But I’ve been going back and forth between Firefox and Opera for the last 8 months or so and with this new version of Opera have finally made the switch to Opera complete. I do love my Firefox extensions, but Opera does everything I was doing with Firefox without the need for any extensions. While this may not hold try for everyone, it’s definitely the case for me. And Opera is noticeably faster. Opera for the win.
Opera rocks! Firefox doesn’t come even 10 yards close to Opera…This was the case with 9.*…Opera 10* blows pants off of any browser out there…Hushhhh.
Yes “Inder” , opera is seriously superb, I’m now using it more frequently than Firefox, I also love the copy to notes feature and the ‘paste and go’ and hey Bittorrent too . It all amkes me write another post on this amazing Web browser .
tinoud ba jud nga paspas ang opera browser? gagamit kog firefox hinay man japun kay akong internet connection kay broadband dial-up GPRS,minimum of up to 40kbps…please tabang…hehehe
I’m only about ten minutes in, and am already HOOKED! I.T. admin since having a CompTIA card was elite, and have seen them all grow…I remember laughing at “Google”, whom I now must bow to. I have been trying to like IE 8 lately just for something new, Its painful browsing. I am a comfy Mozy user, with being said, Opera 10 just “Feels” good! How rare is that! I dont feel strained to adapt to this gui, and feel that I have more, than less (I/E, IE8!) Firefox has lots of toys out there, true enough, but Cyber Space is a proggresive, non-static realm, and this new Opera feels just like that, pregressive, new, and most of all, a truly improved overall, browser, in all things! One suggestion Opera, I would like to import my Firfox faves .json backup file, other than that, you have scored a solid ten! Fits like a glove!
For me Opera is the King of all the browsers on earth!
@koenig – you are right , I love it too specially that “copy to note” feature
I am unable to copy and paste text in Opera 10. How do you do that?
@ladyhawkke – It’s really simple you just left click and and then drag the mouse cursor to select all that you want and then press ctrl+c or , right click on highlighted area and select copy .
opera 10 is slow compared to safari 4 and broadband optimized firefox. and once firefox 4 comes out next year, opera will have no chance.
@sam835:
No it isn’t. And it’s a bit disingenuous to suggest that the next version of something will be better than the current version of something else. For that matter, I can confidently state that the version of Opera that will be available in 2017 will be blow away the current version of Firefox. Meaningless.
Vivek = Thank You! I never had a problem in Firefox but this worked although I know I tried to do this but couldn’t.
Also, my Firefox keeps crashing and the PC tech who came to my house yesterday checked out my computer and said it was working fine. He suggested it could be all the add-ons I have in Firefox. What do you think?
Well, @LadyHawkke It happens with Firefox most of the time and what I do is firstly remove each addon one by one until I find th culprit , OR Just try to upgrade or Downgrade your firefox installation . It’s not just you it happens with most of the people out there Firefox hangs sometimes ( mainly due to addons, but anyways you have to do the head scratching for that )
