The New Facebook Messenger: Sign In with just your Phone Number
Facebook has given a very good upgrade to its messenger app for Android users. Form now on even non Facebook account-holders and users can access the messenger service by just providing there phone number and name, unlike in the previous version where one had to login to FB messenger app with there Facebook username and password. The announcement of this update came from the Facebook Newsroom which read as
Starting today, you can create a Messenger account with just your name and phone number, and start messaging your mobile contacts. Just install the app and tap Get Started to reach your contacts faster, start group conversations, share photos and more.
Facebook Messenger is facing serious competition form What’s App messenger service and there were even rumors that Facebook is even planning to acquire What’s App. But with this update to the FB messenger service the rumors can be put to rest for a while.
With just phone number and name you can now connect with all those in your phonebook who are using FB messenger. Currently the upgraded service of FB Messenger is available to Android users in India, Indonesia, Venezuela, Australia and South Africa. Facebook will soon be rolling out this service for Apple users and other platforms also.
